2019年6月29日托福独立写作范文：Nowadays, many students are not interested in their classes. Which of the following is the best way for a teacher to make students get interested in classes?
- using technology in class more often
- ask students to have group talk more often
- explain to the students what they learned is related to the world outside classroom
Traditionally，giving grades is considered the most common method to stimulate students’motivation, but a soaring number of educationalists, meanwhile, start to focusmore on other methodologies, like applying advanced technology, studying withgroup work and introducing practice out of school. However，from myperspective, group study is indeed essential stimulus for students.
Firstand foremost, never should we deny the fact that group study can help reveal astudent’s shortcomings in studies, which contributes to their motivation andinterest. This is especially true when we consider the fact that students willhave the opportunities to discover their weak points on some subjects bycomparing with others in the same team. In other words, they may go all out tofind the reasons for the loss marks and obtain positive attitude toward theirschool performance. As a consequence, if such works, progress can be made.
Furthermore, another major superiority of group study is that it provides an environment inwhich students can exchange ideas with each other. It is well known thatknowledge knows no bounds, so it is almost impossible for even an eminentprofessor at university to have a good command of everything, let alone anordinary student. In consequence, students should be divided into differentgroups or classes so that they can communicate with, learn from and help eachother. In this case，this is more likely to trigger theirenthusiasm and motivation.
However, this does not mean that advanced technology cannot assist students in stimulatingtheir interest. To be specific, the massive data storage capacity of anelectronic reader allows the storage of the equivalent of piles of thick books. If students are using these forms of textbooks, they no longer have to stufftheir schoolbags with paper books, lessening their burden physically. What'smore, the adoption of visual and sound effects makes studying and reading timemore enjoyable. Consequently, this ultimately contributes to motivate theirinterest.
Inconclusion, even if the applying advanced technology and introducing practiceout of school can be regarded as the powerful tool to foster learners’interest, nothing is more effective than group study.
Keeping students engaged in classes can be the most difficult task for teachers. If students are not paying attention, their minds will be wandering and they will absorb nothing from the lecture given by teachers. Here are three strategies that teachers can choose to make their students interested and engaged. One suggestion is to provide more opportunities of group discussion, and the other is to explain to students how the knowledge they learn is related to the real world. However, I hold the idea that using more high-tech method will be more efficient than the former two suggestions.
First, most of the knowledge in high school textbook is abstract and hard for teenagers to understand, such as the functions and formulae of math, physics and chemistry. Allowing group discussion will not make them easier to comprehend, so students are likely to talk about things not related with the questions given to them. They may even start to talk about jokes and gossip to get away from the boredom and frustration. However, if teachers employ the help from new technology, they can visualize abstract concepts, making such academic knowledge easier to absorb and remember. Besides, teachers can show the knowledge in a more colorful way that facilitates memorizing. They will not only attract the attention of students but also help them understand the knowledge better. In addition, teachers will have more interact with students rather than taking things as they come.
Second, most knowledge that students learn in high school stage will not be helpful or related to the real world. Actually, such knowledge only lay foundation for students to achieve higher education. Most math concepts and skills has nothing to do with daily life, most literature works reflects life far away from the experience of students, and not to mention that most physical or chemical reactions will not bring students to attention. It is burdensome for teachers to try to relate most content of textbooks to attract students. For example, students need to learn poems during high school, and some of the poems talk about ancient events that have no actual help for students in modern society. Then teachers should seek the assist of new technology and show some video clips to attract students rather than giving students some far-fetched explanations.
To conclude, facilitating the help of new technology is a much accessible method to keep attention of students and providing more chances to interact with students.
