2018年6月10日托福独立写作范文：The following two measures could be taken to help students adapt to the life in school, whichone would you choose?
1. Attending a one-week orientation or introduction program when you are in the universitycampus, and it will begin before you have the classes.
2. Meeting regularly at your first year with a student in your major field who has entered theuniversity for several years.
As students who are taking this TOEFL test now, planning to study abroad, the inevitable problem that we will meet is to adapt to a brand-new environment. While some people choose to wholly rely on the orientation for freshmen to get familiar with their campuses, others may depend on seniors in the same school who they knew. As far as I’m concerned, meeting regularly with a student with experience actually has better effect.
First and foremost, students who have been in this university for several years have more experiences after long time spending on the campus. Instead of figuring everything out on your own, which is time-consuming and energy-wasting, you can simply turn to them for information. They know during which hours there is an available seat in the library in the period of finals after hundreds of times of failure to occupy one; They know which professors tough graders or amazing lecturers are; And they know the shortest route to the lecture hall if you happen to get up late and about to be late for class. These are all real problems ahead of us in our daily campus life. Who would be a better teacher than the ones who have already been through all of these problems? Equipped with experiences and knowledge they teach you, you can adapt to the new environment more smoothly, avoiding unnecessary mistakes and saving time.
Academic performance is the key factor deciding whether you can graduate from the college successfully. Therefore, study skills count a lot. As senior students have already taken numerous finals, written many essays and read literatures hard to understand, they may additionally offer you study skills which can help improve your efficiency. For example, the analytical skills help you with your understanding of questions; And time management enables you to utilize precious time on knowledge worth delving into. You can even find out what your potential is with proper study skills. Study efficiency plays so important a role that it may directly affect your GPAs and scores. Hence, with the guidance from experienced senior students, skills we learned can help improve our academic performance to a great extent.
Though frankly I concede that introductory programs such as orientation for freshmen provide a platform for us to meet more classmates, the time length is too short for us to fully get to know each other and be familiar with the campus. Instead of spending too much time on meaningless chats and afterparties, I prefer to have a high-quality conversation with a senior student who I can really learn a lot from.
College is not only about gaining academic knowledge, but also is a place to learn life experience: how you interact with others, how you deal with troubles, and how you conquer your inner fear. An experienced senior student is surely a fantastic mentor to help us achieve a better goal and campus life. In conclusion, I favor the option to meet with a senior student who has lots of experience and knowledge better than the introductory program.
