Discussing about success of a business, most people will say – quality. Quality is the most important part. For me, I won’t deny the importance of quality, but it’s the essential and fundamental part. In my opinion, a strategy to promote a successful business is to invest in advertising.
First, advertising helps products be publicized in market. In old ages, business was only limited in one region because information didn’t spread widely. So advertising was not as important as nowadays, and of course success was not equally large. While in the 21st century, the world has become a global market, when we mention success of a business, it must be related to market and popularity. Advertising becomes unprecedentedly important. Just imagine a situation that a consumer is standing in front of aisles in a supermarket, looking for groceries, and will he choose something that he’s never heard about? Definitely no. How can a company introduce a new product to consumers? The answer is through advertising! Only through this can products be publicized. So, advertising is definitely a crucial part in business.
Second, advertising makes products become preferential choices among competitors. With the development in commerce, consumers have a variety of choices in similar products, so competition is becoming fiercer and fiercer. Let’s come back to the picture we just formed in mind. The consumer is still standing in front of aisles in a supermarket, looking for groceries, maybe a shampoo. Will he choose a little-known brand instead of famous ones? Probably no. People tend to buy things they’re familiar with or curious about. How can a company arouse consumers’ familiarity or curiosity? The answer is through advertising. There’s nothing but advertising can impress a product in consumers’ mind. When turning on TV, a consumer sees a commercial of REJOICE; when listening to radio, he hears promotion of REJOICE; when taking a subway, he notices a poster of REJOICE; when opening a magazine, he reads introduction of REJOICE. Familiarity and curiosity are implanted in consumers’ mind so that he chooses a shampoo of REJOICE involuntarily. Therefore, if a company wants his products become preferential choices, he must invest a lot of money in advertising.
The 21st century is an information era. No matter how impeccable a product is, it needs to be known at first. So advertising is a vital part in promoting a successful business.
frankly speaking, i strongly oppose to the statement that more money shall be put in advertisement in order to make businesses more successful. indeed, some advertisements can make one business witness better sales performance, but they shall never be considered as the most important factor for a business to take off and stand on top of the market.
to make clear of the problem, the very first question we shall ask ourselves is: what is the vital part of a business’s survival? i reckon the answer granted: the quality of its products or services. no matter how fancy the advertisements are, customers would have respectively different, always objective feelings toward products or services with different qualities. as one business once puts its slogan like this: advertisements can lie, but products would not. for business who cares and spend on advertisements too much, quality of their products or services can sometimes be ignored as a consequence. this would thus create a less desirable impression of the products or services to their customers, and then lead to a possible shrink of business.
another side of the story shall be considered is that although focusing on advertisements can bring about profits in a short term, it would not be that effective as time goes by, or let’s put it in a more straight way: it might even hurt the healthy development of an enterprise or the entire industry. customers would not believe in advertisements permanently, since as i mentioned earlier, they would have their own idea after the usage of products and services, and what’s more, they would make comparison between advertisements made by different companies. in this sense, companies who insist on making more efforts to advertise could only persuade the customers to purchase their products or services by ensure them that other products or services are of inferior quality. this would always lead to endless baleful competition, which could at last wear down the customers’ confidence towards all products or services in the industry, thus making all advertisements invalid as a whole.
one thing we shall bear in mind when considering the function of advertisements is that it is for people to know the products and barely nothing more. it certainly makes differences if a company came up with a brilliant advertisement, since it would make a strong impression on customers so that they would like to try the products, but what means more to one business to run is to keep those customers, for which advertisements can seldom contribute a lot.
question: do you agree or disagree with the statement: people benefit more from traveling in their own country than from traveling to foreign coutries.
all of us can see that the world now is becoming a whole unity with the rapid development , and at the same time people’s living standard is aslo ramped up.travelling is no longer a luxury imagination in people’s mind , but a new question emeges that how could people get the most benefits from travelling ? if it is up to me to decide with , i will choose the travelling to foreign countries.
