Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: In modern days， parents can learn more from their children than children can learn from their parents。
Nowadays, a number of famous parenting books constantly point out that parents should learn from their own children in various occasions. The conversation ofwhether parents are learning more from their children than children leaning from parents is more than often heated.Personally speaking, I disagree with the statement that parents learn more from children than children learn from parents.
Most importantly, parents typically have much more life experience than their kids, thus fully able to teach their children everything they possibly could. There's a saying that parents are children's best teachers in life. It is true from the day we are born, we are constantly learning from our parents, especially in our childhood. Our parents are those who live and communicate with us on a daily basis, those who we could count on, and those who are always there to help us with complicated choices and point out the more flexible solution. They give us their life-long advices and educate us with their rich experience. From tasks as insignificant as how to walk to those as significant as how to be a respected human being, we seek help and advice-both indirect and direct-from our parents. In this life-long relationship, children tend to listen to their parents' stories and summed up lessons that prepare the children with a smoother and safer life path ahead.
Admittedly, parents do learn from their children from time to time. My mom, for instance, has told me that she sees good qualities in me that are nowhere to be found in her.She would say that I have shown an astonishing amount of courage that she lacks in the face of difficulties, and for that she decides to learn from me. However, when I thought about her compliments afterwards, I realized that the reason I have such positive characteristics is because of her day-after-day conversations with me on being courageous all the time and not being afraid of mistakes. Our parents might not be able to impact us in every single way. Nevertheless, they are always trying their best to bring the best out of us. Situations where you believe your parents are learning from you do exist, but chances that they are simply trying to regain something they already put into you are still considerably large.Learning is a two-way road. However, I do strong believe that children learn more from their parents than parents learn from children.
