2019年11月23日雅思大作文题目：In modern life, it is unnecessary to teach children the skill of handwriting. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
In recent years, people gradually get used to type on computers or mobile phones, but write less on paper, including children. Therefore, there are voices advocating the cancelation of courses teaching handwriting in primary schools. As far as I am concerned, however, it is still necessary for children to learn and practice handwriting.
Admittedly, to teach children handwriting skills today is to some extent less practical. As most modern citizens do not need to write on paper as much as in the past, handwriting seems less important today. Electronic devices, like computers, laptops and smart phones, become main tools people utilize while expressing themselves. Also, it is actually much more convenient for people to type. Therefore, what skills children ought to learn at school are how to type more accurately and efficiently.
However, we can never overlook the significance of leaning skills of handwriting which is in fact irreplaceable. Through handwriting, young children can more effectively grasp languages. While writing on paper, be it a letter, a word, a phrase, or a sentence, children use their brains and hands together, which can help them study more actively and initiatively. In addition, the learning and practicing of handwriting is practical, since people at least need to sign, to leave a note, etc. Beautiful handwriting can help children leave others good impression. On the contrary, to type won’t have such effects, because children simply passively watch the screen.
In a nutshell, courses of teaching children handwriting are still meaningful in modern elementary schools, and children should learn and practice handwriting.
