Researchesintonewtypesofmedicineandtreatmentsareessentialforimprovinghealthanddealingwithdiseases.Whodoyouthinkshouldfundtheseresearches:privatecom

Researches into new types of medicine and treatments are essential for improving health and dealing with diseases. Who do you think should fund these researches: private companies, individuals or governments?

(20181020) Reports show that it is increasingly expensive to keep museums open to the public. What do you think is the best way of funding them (e.g. the governments, businesses or individuals)?

odern medical advances have helped create new types of medicine and treatment for diseases, and today people can enjoy longer and healthier lives. This has been made possible mainly by decades of huge investment in medical research funded by industry, individuals, and governments.

On the one hand, many medical studies are funded by pharmaceutical companies directly and individuals indirectly. To begin with, companies need to increase the sales of newly developed drugs or treatments in order to generate adequateprofits. So, it would be in their best interest to directly finance research that favors their corporate goals. That is exactly why industry-funded clinical trials have risen sharply in recent years. Indirectly, individuals support medical science every day through taxes they pay as well as products and services they purchase from companies. For example, something as simple as buying a bottle of aspirin may help foot the bill for medical research.

On the other hand, government’s involvement in financing medical research, like any scientific research, is essential. While some say that private funding will perhaps ensure enough progress without government funding, a majority of people believe that government investment should play an important role in finding ways of preventing and treating human diseases such as cancer and diabetes, with the objective of improving public health. The importance of government investment is that public funding is non-commercial, which means that research is independent and much less susceptible to profit-oriented bias. So government investment is extremely crucial, especially in fields where private companies or individuals are not willing to invest.

From a financial perspective, private companies, individual consumers, and government departments are likely a mix of sources of funding for medical research. The increased human longevity and better health depend upon financial assistance from various sources for the innovation of new types of medicine and treatment.

The cost of researching and developing new medicines and therapies can be very high and who should pay for this money is still a topic of debate.

In my opinion, pharmaceutical companies are mainly responsible for putting new medicines on the market to meet people's demand, in the process of research and development, these companies probably need to spend large sums of money to cover the expenditure involved. We cannot deny that the, primary task of business is to make profits, and the drug company is no exception. Therefore, in most cases, drug companies will use pricing strategies to shift the cost to patients who buy the medicine, which seems to be fair enough.

However, there are numerous people who cannot afford to buy the new medicine, or complain that the spending on medication imposes a heavy burden on them, mainly in those countries with low personal income and without healthcare security. So pharmaceutical companies need to take more social responsibilities and price the medicine at a reasonable level, even though their profit margin is compromised. A responsible company should iiave the vision to see that this act can set up a good image of the company and bring more profits in the long term.

As for the role of governments, they have indirectly paid for the development of new medicines by covering their citizens' healthcare in some countries. But in many other countries where the healthcare security system is not well-established or governments have a tight budget, there is not too much they can do to support the research and development of new medicines and therapies.

In conclusion, private companies new should play a leading role in developing medicines and how the government and individuals share the medical fee depends on the actual situation of the country.
