Describe a city you once went to with your family
You should say:
What the city was
Why you went there
What the city was like
And explain how you felt about it
I’m going to talk about Beijing where I went to with my parents. Beijing is the capital of China, which is also an international city. Every year it appeals tons of tourists from all around the world, especially during some vacations.
I went there because…about ten years ago, when I was in primary school. And it was on summer vacation, I didn’t have too much homework at that age and my parents also had one-week vacation, which allowed our family arranged a short time trip. And my mom and I had never been to Beijing, so we decided to go there together.
I think Beijing is a combination of history and modernization, where has lots of skyscrapers in the city center. And there are also tons of ancient buildings, like the Great Wall, the Summer Palace, the temple of heaven and so on, where people like to visit to learn about the history of Beijing. However, the traffic was a nightmare during peak hours, which means the subway might be the best choice to go out in Beijing.
How I felt about it, well, although it is a lively, fashionable, historical and cosmopolitan city, its sky-high housing costs and terrible air pollution increase the life pressure for people.
What kind of city do you like?
I like big cities with skyscrapers such as Shanghai, New York and Dubai, as this kind of cities look amazing in the light when you are surrounded by the buildings and lights.
What are the advantages of living in a city?
The biggest advantage to live in a city is that you can enjoy really good fundamental facilities, which makes it easy for you to transport, get educated and have good medical service.
Why do many people nowadays prefer living in suburbs?
I think it is because house price is lower in the suburb, and with the development of economy, the fundamental facilities there are also good enough.
